About Isaac Reich Glassworks
The idea of restoring the glassworks began to mature on the Zikmundov farm in Staré Hute in the mind of its owner, Adam Havlíček, around 2019.
The initial impulse was the accidental discovery of materials about the history of the Reich family and the fame of the local glass industry.
This story planted the seed of a somewhat crazy idea to revive glassmaking in a place where it had disappeared 150 years ago, and where only the name of the village - Staré Hutě - was a reminder of its former glory.
The idea became a plan and over the next 2 years Adam Havlicek visited many glassworks across Europe to find out what technology was best for the production of future Izaak Reich glasses.
A fateful meeting with one of the most successful and well-known Czech glass artists and designers, Ronny Plesl, gave the glassworks a clear direction.
The subsequent proposal to create the first Linden collection as a tribute to the old glassmakers and the Reich family was enthusiastically received.
And because the art of bringing an unconventional story to the customer needs an unconventional artist, they have recruited one of the most renowned, Mr. Aleš Najbrt.
He and his team created the visual style of the Izaak Reich brand, which expresses the important values that have been espoused at Zikmundova for years. Tradition, craftsmanship, honesty, quality or sustainability, which Adam Havlicek wants to convey to his customers, whether in the form of glassware or perfect guesthouse services.
"We are proud to offer our customers these hand-blown glasses. Zikmundov, where the glassworks is located, is a matter of the heart for me, as I went there for our first weekends together with my wife Adéla and we liked it so much that we had our wedding here in 2023.
So when Adam reopened the glassworks here, I immediately wanted to work with his glasses. I've long been a fan of Riedel glasses, which are unforgiving and I still like to use them to evaluate wine, but for home I want to enjoy wine in a light, balanced glass with a thin foot and a solid head that won't crack in the dishwasher."
